On Monday we took Cody to get fixed. This picture was taken shortly after we got him home. Poor baby. He still looks very high from the drugs.
Well, today I was talking to my sister on the phone and she asked me if the vet had offered us "Neuticals". I told her that I didn't know what she meant. She went on to tell me that many vets were now putting testicular implants in dogs after they neuter them so that the dog feels more normal and less ashamed of their altered state. I thought she must be joking. But if you click on the link above you can read all about it.
Am I the only one who hasn't heard of this? Am I a cruel and callous woman to think that my dog is lucky we care enough to get him fixed in the first place? I mean, we could just let him roam wild impregnating all the dogs in the neighborhood, adding to the dog population and putting his own life at risk. With the cost of food and fuel increasing daily, you can bet that I'm not going to spend an extra $300 to help my pet with his body image issues. (Actually that does sound a bit callous.)
What do you think about this? Go ahead... let me have it!
