Small Group

Tonight I went to small group and two people that I counted as my best friends at church were not there. I'm afraid that they are no longer going to come. They weren't at church last Thursday either.

However, there was a new couple there. They are members of Copper Hills and they seemed very nice. I hope they continue to come.

I hope that my Summit friends return to our small group. I have had trouble opening myself up for friendship because of my childhood (we moved A LOT) and even some adult experiences. It really hurts to lose friends for any reason. Sometimes it seems easier and safer to just not try.

Give them time. Could you give them a call and just express that you missed them (without that "I'm guilting you" thing that Christians tend to do when they tell someone they missed them)... I DOES hurt to loose friends. Boy do I know that feeling.

Still praying for this whole transition you're going through.

I agree. We moved alot when I was little too and it's hard to keep putting yourself out there. Keep trying, though, and call your friends. They'll love hearing from you and knowing that you missed them.

I understand...I agree... call them and tell them you missed them because you did! I have been isolated because of our work conditions for too long...I am not going to allow this to continue...Christians need community and all of us humans need friendship. Get going...be fearless! :)

I also moved a ton when I was a kid. But you gotta keep putting yourself out there. You may end up being the person to help another who is even more uncomfortable about getting to know people. You have a lot to offer.

Kendra,
I just read through your testimony all 9 parts.

I didn't read much more than a few of your recent post.

I came by your blog by way of Flower's. I came to Flower's by way of my friend Kathy's.

I have no idea why I clicked on your comment on Flower's post over any body else's but I did.

After reading your posts I just want to tell you this:

Believers are not only meant to be in community with God but with other believers also - His Body. Intimate community.

I don't know where you came by Dark Night of the Soul and so I know this may sound harsh to some, but I am glad you're there. It is rough, really rough, but good, as the poem lets us know and St. John explains. Have you also read Interior Castle? Teresa of Avila has an interesting take on our spiritual journey.

I will be praying for you and Jason. I will come and visit you again if you don't mind.

Peace LA
