Well, I decided today to dig the NutriSystem food out of the closet. There are almost 3 months worth in there from when Hubby and I decided to diet together at the front of the new year. He lasted 1 week and I quit a week after that.
You see, I was up at 2 am having an ice cream cone (low fat, mind you) when my hubby came down stairs to get a drink of water and discovered me. I often get up in the middle of the night, since I work nights. It's hard to go back and forth between a day schedule and a night one. Anyhow, he says to me "Are you not going to stop until you weigh a thousand pounds?" It couldn't have been a question... it was definitely a comment. I felt the need to defend my choice of snacks. After all, it was low fat!
But now in the light of day (as I look at the reconstituted cardboard that I am actually considering putting in my mouth!) I am thinking that he actually has more weight to lose than me! What is it about this world that makes it more ok for men to have extra weight on their bodies than women!?

oh, if that was the only double standard
I'll come over and leave a comment! Thanks for leaving one on mine. I love the layout of your blog and the background. Bloggers Unite:-)
You know what - you have hit on such a sore suject with me. There are so many times I've thought that same thing - you watch tv and there's all kinds of messages that it's okay for men to be big, but not women...
My mama said if I can't say anything nice (about men) then don't say anything at all.......
it's that darn double standard and cardboard reconstituted ice cream cones!
My husband likes to do the same thing. He tries to get on to me when I eat something that I shouldn't, because I try (notice I said try) to eat healthier than he does.
So....not fair!
I don't know why it's ok--but it's not fair!!
